The Early Years And Beyond
I came to Shining Light in June of 2011 after facing a maximum prison sentence of 72 years. I was addicted to prescription pain medication and forging prescriptions to obtain them. I was also addicted to Methamphetamine.

The Road To Recovery
Once coming to Shining Light, I was able to face and begin to overcome childhood issues that had been haunting me my whole life. I was molested by both my father and my cousin and had stuffed these issues and used drugs to numb my emotions. When the drugs no longer worked, I attempted suicide by slicing my wrists. Through MRT, counseling sessions and my growing relationship with Jesus Christ, I was able to confront my demons and begin to heal. I was introduced to AA and NA, as well as given a life coach to help me with every day decision making. I am learning to live life on life’s terms and recognize my emotions as they arise, as oppose to stuffing them.
The Difference At Shining Light
Today, I am working full-time and rebuilding relationships with my family. Shining Light assisted me in going to court over custody of my children and the outcome was greater than I could have ever expected. Every aspect of my life has been changed for the good since coming to Shining Light. I am proud to say that I have hope today and look forward to a bright future, made possible because of the help I received from Shining Light.
