Shining Light Ministries, a long-term residential treatment program, in McDonough, for women with addictions to drugs and alcohol, presented the We Do Recover Country Fest fundraiser on Friday evening.
The event featured a low country boil prepared by chef Zach Patterson, silent auction, games, and live music from such notable local acts as Barry Michael, Jason Fowler and Tyler Royale.
Teresa Bestwick, founder of Shining Light Ministries, said she began offering drug and alcohol recovery classes at the Henry County Jail in 2001. She was overwhelmed with the number of women in need of help.
“I received hundreds of letters from inmates saying, ‘Teresa, please help me. I don’t want to die.’”
