Recovering addicts begin new life after graduating from SLM!

McDONOUGH — Three women began a new life Saturday after graduating Shining Light’s addiction recovery program.

Shining Light Ministries Inc. in McDonough is a long-term residential recovery program offered to women suffering drug and alcohol addictions. The women in the program are either walk-ins, referred or scouted through the court system. Founder and Executive Director Teresa Bestwick told attendees of the ceremony that she founded the program because of her experiences as a drunk and a crackhead beginning at 14. She had been sexually molested and raped and didn’t have anyone to “help me piece it all together.” She first began the ministry at the Henry County Jail.
